Karl Pilkington…

Posted on Oct 30, 2008 under Comedy |

I’ve been listening to the Ricky Gervais podcasts on the way to uni each morning, and I cannot stress enough people, how funny it is. Not because of Gervais but because of what he has with him.
For those who don’t know about Karl Pilkington, I think he used to either be Ricky’s radio producer or co-host or something from years ago. The amazing thing is, he still gets around without the label of a ‘mentally disabled man’.
He can only be compared to Fry off futurama, having a different brainwave pattern (if any) compared to the rest of humanity.
Karl speaks about cyclopes as though they’re historically known, documented factual beings.
He has this fascination with the smallest things of nature (as I do) but never bothers to understand it, rather compare it to his own thoughts. Eg “saw some Ducks hangin about a frozen pond….They looked worried. I wonder how long a Duck’s memory is, weather they know whats goin on with the lake or weather theyre freakin out about it.”

To all those who haven’t heard at least one of the podcasts done by Gervais, Pilkington, and Steve Merchant, you probably don’t see alot of funny things in life. Karl breaks all the rules without even realising.
Another example in reference to a docco about autism:
“there was this guy and he remembered EVERYTHING about East Enders, from the day he started to watch….Thats not really a sickness is it, more like a super power…..I wouldn’t put him infront of East Enders though, he’s wasting his powers in’he….I would’ve given him an encyclopedia and said ‘he’yar get stuck into that’…..I mean there is that bit where they can’t control emotions but they can just soak up information”

how do i get hold of these pod casts?

i just bought Gervais’ “fame” dvd (which is awsome) and the Bill Bailey dvd “Part Troll”. I don’t know if you’ve seen “Part Troll” but i really think you’d dig it. He is a brilliant comedian as well as being a knock out musician.

If you are a member of itunes, you can get the complete Audio books for about 7-8 dollars.
These include Flight of the Concords, Mighty Boosh, & the Gervais ones.
All former radio shows are hilarious and depict the comedian’s brilliance at this early stage in their career.
